Shucks, this will probably turn into a bunch of dumb questions...

I was successful downloading
ftp://ftp.bixby.org/pub/mpe/diffutils-2.7-mpe.tar.Z
via ftp directly to my HP3k, but am having NO luck trying to figure out how
to run tar, or even the version present; I have
ACCOUNT=  SYS         GROUP=  HPBIN
FILENAME  CODE  ------------LOGICAL RECORD-----------  ----SPACE----
                  SIZE  TYP        EOF      LIMIT R/B  SECTORS #X MX
TAR       NMPRG   128W  FB         964        964   1      976  1  8

I searched the hp3000-l archives and tried a few suggestions for finding man
tar, but no luck.  I might even be invoking the wrong shell?

I tried
sh.hpbin.sys
$ man /etc tar
and several other variants; of course I also tried
$ tar.hpbin.sys -h
and
... -?

Gee, not a clue.  Do I have to go through the pain of learning Posix to use
diff, et al?
