Now that I have Samba working between my Win95 PC and my HP3000, I bought
Symantec Cafe. I then created a new project, and added a file that is
actually on my HP3000. I can double-click on the file, and edit it in Cafe
(way cool), but when I try to compile it I get an error ("Can't read:
HelloWorld.java). I'm in touch with Symantec support (only available via
Usenet, but they do seem to respond overnight at the latest).

The goal is to have the source reside on the HP3000, edit/test/debug in on my
PC, have the object (bytecode) reside on the HP3000, then execute the
finished program on the HP3000.

I guess I could then use Cafe to build some applets on the HP3000, include
them in an HP3000-based web page, and have Apache serve them.

Next, I'll have to add some GNU PERL CGI scripts...

I'll keep you posted!

(I suspect Cafe is trying to create temp files with MPE-illegal characters in
the filenames; I mentioned that to Symantec).
