That's the way I remember it.  Command files didn't come into effect until
MPE/iX.  UDCs were it.

Before implied execution you had to precede the command file with the word
XEQ and a space.

That being said it is useful to set the var HPPATH to where the command
files are.  Otherwise you have to fully qualify them.

example:

HPPATH = !HPGROUP,PUB,COMMAND,PUB.SYS,COMMAND.SYS

Looks in the group you are in, the PUB group where you are logged in, a
COMMAND group, PUB.SYS and a COMMAND group in the SYS account.

(Only because I have a habit of putting my command files in COMMAND groups,
you may do something else.)
