You may want to run a memory diagnostic on your laptop...
I had a problem on a PC where I could not reload Windows XP.
Dell replaced just about everything, including the main processor
and then finally had me check the memory last and that was the
problem.

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT: WIndows XP help?
Hi all,
This is Windows related, so forgive the intrusion, but...
I have a laptop that I can't seem to load VB .NET on. When I
load the CD's for VB on my desktop (which has Windows XP, too), I have
no problems. But I've tried to load two separate copies of the software
on my laptop without success. I get a 'file not found' error from the
CD reader. I went out and got an external CD reader, and while I got
past the first missing file, the new CD reader also could not find
files.
I've checked the MS WEB help, but can't locate the correction,
so I was wondering if any of you folks have run into this type of error
(aggravation), and if so, what did you do to correct it.
TIA for any help!!
Have a fun and safe holiday weekend!!!
