Several people asked about the benchmark wanting to "try it on their
machines". OK, here goes...
If you're interested, get
ftp://opus.admin.utc.edu/pub/hp3000-l/whetston.mz
in binary mode. Upload to your 3000 as, say "./WHETMOVE.MZ" (if you
have your FTP server running, then from the PC:
:ftp my3000.dom.org
(enter username and passwords)
ftp> binary
ftp> put whetston.mz ./WHETMOVE.MZ
ftp> quit
Then on the 3000:
:uncompre.hpbin ./WHETMOVE.MZ
:mover.prvxl.telesup "-x WHETMOVE"
This will result in WHETRUN (an executable program) and WHETSTON (the
Fortran/iX source code). To run on a non-HP system, remove the PROCTIME
calls and substitute something suitable for your target platform to
measure CPU time (if needed).
Please let me know your results and I'll assemble the final tallies!
