The maiximum number of concurrent processes on MPE/iX 5.5 is 8190, and it
is limited by the maximum size of the PCB data structure. This is
NOT configurable (in the standard sense) and the table is "maxed out"
on all systems (except small memory systems -- < 64 MB memory).
I am guessing that since you are asking you want to make it bigger,
not smaller. Please send me some private e-mail regarding with the
following iformation (if you have it) and I would be happy to discuss
the situation with you:
* Maximum number of concurrent users you have today on your largest
system.
* Expected growth over the next year, 2 years, and 5 years.
* Impact to business of not being able to put all the users on
a single system.
* Are all your users homgeneous (eg all run the same application)?
* Do you have logon UDCs setup to take all your users directly into
the application(s)? (In other words end users do not have direct
access to the CI)
* Do you use any type of menus to select which application the
enduser will be running? If so, how are they implemented?
* Are your users directly connected (DTC) or NW (VT) users?
