David,
I'd recommend a parallel interface for the printer and a jet direct box
to print via network printing (SYSGEN/NPCONFIG setup).
Alternatively, as you already have the serial/RS232 i/f, if you you have
an extra DTC, you could configure it on the 939 and serially connect the
printer in that manner.
I definitely wouldn't recommend an HPIB interace as adding that to your
939 would require 6.5 or earlier MPE/iX release.
Hope this helps...

Subject: [HP3000-L] attaching line printer to the system
hello,
i need to attach line printer (2567C 1600 lpm serial printer) to the
backup 939ks, which we just got. the system came in configured with LP
on ldev 6.
in sysgen i have:
PATH: 10/4/20.8.0 LDEV: 6
ID: HP2567B TYPE: LP
PMGR: SCSI_DISC_DM PMGRPRI: 10
LMGR: LOGICAL_DEVICE_MANAGER MAXIOS: 0
I understand the printer can be used as pseudo, serial or network
device.
what is the easiest and/or best way to attach it?
I have rs-232 board to replace HP-IB, so maybe I should do that?
I suppose, I need to remove LP from that sysgen entry in order to
configure LP in NMMGR as ldev 6 on DTC?
What profile should I use?
thanks
