In the used equipment market, there are many many ways to calculate value.
Examples:

Wholesale value (no freight)
Wholesale value (including freight - this can make a BIG difference)
Wholesale value after repair/refurbishment
Retail value (minimal warranty)
Retail value at a price it will sell for
Wishfull thinking price

I have found that ebay is a good way to scope out the real retail value for
commodity type equipment.  Even on ebay if you study completed sales, you
will see variations in prices based upon warranty, condition, etc.
