Thought the following information could be useful to a few people
here:

LDEV 1 will only recognize 4GB of space on any disk device. This
means that if you configure a new 8GB disk as LDEV 1, half of the
space can not be accessed.

The only HP supported configurations of the Disk Array's on the HP3000
are:

1) RAID 1 - disk mirroring of two 4GB disks giving you 4GB of usable
disk space; appropriate for assigning to LDEV 1 since LDEV 1 can not
be mirrored in any other way.

2) RAID 5 - five 4GB disks combining to produce 16GB of usable space;
appropriate for any disk device other than LDEV1.

This information was provided to me by the Response Center yesterday.
