Hi All,

I am responding to the recent discussion on the HP3000-L with the subject
"Newbie: COBOL". These e-mails have been forwarded to me as I am not
registered with the HP3000-L (too much mail each day for me to cope with).

SIGCOBOL already has a web site within the Interex web site (with links from
3kworld.com) which we are trying to develop as a COBOL Best Practices Web
Site. We have been slow in adding material to that site but we do have a
group of people responsible for getting the material on the site (SIGCOBOL
Editorial Board). There are a few examples of COBOL code already there but
we are looking for more.

The chairman of this group is now Glen Koster who will be glad to receive
any material for adding to the site.

Glen's email address is [log in to unmask]

I would also like to encourage everyone with an interest in COBOL to
register with the COBOL list by sending an e-mail to
[log in to unmask] with a subject "subscribe" (without quotes). Once
you have subscribed you will be able to send and read all discussions on
HP3000 COBOL.

I personally would prefer all COBOL discussion to be on the COBOL list
rather than the HP3000-L to keep the HP3000-L discussions specifically to
MPE and IMAGE. It is much easier to manage your many emails each day when
they are prefixed with a focused list name.

I look forward to seeing more of these great COBOL discussions on the COBOL
list.

Regards,

Jeanette Nutsford
SIGCOBOL Chairman
