bdf is more like the discfree summary, giving details by logical
volumes. If you want information on the "physical" drives try

   vgdisplay -v

How do I now know this?

After two days of reading/digging and Richard Gambrell's excellent
instruction and pointers, I "scratched" two physical disks (and one
logical volume and one filesystem) and created two [mirrored] physical
discs (and two[four] logical volumes and two[four] filesystems).

Damn, I miss VOLUTIL :-)

And bdf should more correctly be called BFD :-)
