Exactly what kind of licensing/permissions/restrictions/etc. would one
need to develop (just) an MPE CI emulator for the PC?

This assumes that it would not be for profit, but something that could
be used for testing eventually-to-be-run-on-an-HP JCL, scripts, etc.?
Under that understanding, could it be given away for free with HP's
blessings (after all, it would actually promote e3000 use), or would it
need to be given/sold to HP for them to sell as they see fit?

As I've said before, I for one would love to have something like this
on (say) a laptop in order to pre-test code destined for my production
system. This would come in handy especially when I get weird code ideas
-- trust me on this: it happens all the time -- and would like to try
something out but have no immediate CI access.

If you're in a hotel room, on a <insert method of transportation
offering hideously-expensive connection fee here>, or don't want to rack
up connection fees our your cell, you can keep local copies of JCL, etc.
then "burst transmit" fixed versions of them to the embattled mother
ship.

Sure, a large number of the variables are faked -- either random or
non-changing, like (say) HPPIN or HPLDEVIN -- but the point is that they
would LOOK like the real things -- enough to let you at least get by
syntax errors and the like in your code. Even if the emulator was only
75% or so effective, so long as the limitations were listed, it could
STILL be a major help.

Anyone -- especially you HP folks -- want to offer opinions/experience
about this? Either on-line or off?

Thanks!
Curtis
