That's true. This is a change that was made in Version 0.95. QCTerm now asks
the HP3000 whether or not it's capable of supporting advanced telnet. This
was a change that required a change in both the terminal emulator and MPE's
telnet code.
The problem is that you don't have the newest telnet patch on your Empire
machine, but you can get it from our machine by downloading (using whatever
method you prefer) the files:
r01yptda
qpatch
readme
...from our internet-exposed 918 by telnetting to 209.181.113.217 and logging
on to:
:hello <yourname>,demo.qcterm
You'll find the three necessary files there. To install this newest telnet
patch on your HP3000, begin your installation at Step 3.2 of the README file
(if there was a step 3.2 :-); the files have already been unpacked, so you
won't need to do any of that).
With this newest code installed on your HP3000, QCTerm can automatically
determine whether or not it should be in advanced or standard telnet mode,
something it's never been able to do before. At the moment, QCTerm isn't
getting the right answer from your machine so it automatically switches to
standard telnet mode as its default.
