<plug...sort of :>

  Well, I promised a demonstration of how you can access an Image/SQL
or Allbase/SQL database from the Internet a little while ago, and after a
few delays I'm ready for anyone interested to have a look at it. You can
either get to the demo from my main site at http://www.editcorp.com or
directly at http://www.editcorp.com/editcorp/site-demos/partsdbe.
  Here's the details:

. The web server is a Windows NT 4.0 system running O'Reilly's WebSite Pro
        http server.
. Allaire Corporation's Cold Fusion 3.01 software is used to provide the dynamic
        elements to stock HTML. This software also provides the ability to perform SQL
        calls to a standard ODBC datasource.
. Hewlett-Packards soon to be released ODBCLink/SE is providing the ODBC
        interface between Cold Fusion and Allbase/SQL.
.       The Allbase/SQL database resides on a HP3000 Series 928LX midrange computer
        system. The database is actually the sample PARTSDBE that is provided by HP.
. For those familiar with this database, only the PURCHDB tables are provided for
        in this demonstration.

  Please keep in mind that this is NOT a full fledged application, but rather a 'proof of concept'
demonstration. That means that you WILL find some bugs (please let me know so I can
fix them :) as you go along. Please read the documentation pages before you begin to play
since they may explain a question you would have if you didn't.

  Sorry it took so long to get these out, but I wanted to make them available prior to HP World.
Since I won't be attending this year (sniff, sniff) consider this my contribution.

(here comes the plug :)
If anyone has any questions concerning the technology or products involved, please drop me
some email, or give me a call. I firmly believe that this is the way that many companies will
be providing data to both the Internet at large, or to employees via an Intranet. It's an easy
to learn, administer, use, and maintain web based applications.

<end plug>
