The point is, life is not fair. I don't for a moment fool my children that
it is. I teach them that there are always consequences to our actions. Some
good, some bad, some unpredictable.

I NEVER said it was OK for the school to punish folks for good deeds, nor
did I say it wasn't. Not that I'm that wishy-washy, but the school does it's
thing and I do mine. When they adopt a narrow minded policy as in the case
you point out, then they will do just what happened.

There are lots of unfair rules in the world. We have to make decisions based
on what we think is best. Sometimes that gets us a label of rebel, and
sometimes it gets us a label of patriot. That's what I teach.
