Enough so that the Lund package shows that memory isn't a bottleneck.  :)

Seriously, the only correct answer is "it depends".  I've actually
seen a case where more memory slowed some things down by 5%.   (This
was a single-batch-job HP 3000 that went from 64 MB to 576 MB.)

You might point out to your management that if you don't purchase the
programs that provide you the information you're relying on,
then the next time you need the information, the
program might not be available (because the company's gone).

I realize how hard it is to sell software to management :)
