I'd be careful with that. I seem to recall cases where the binary transfer
created VB (variable binary) files on the 3000 (this might depend on setup
or BLDPARMS) instead of FB (fixed binary). Variable Binary files don't work
well with Samba or Apache (because FLABELINFO or FFILEINFO tend to report
an incorrect byte size for the file). Can result in web pages or downloads
that stall at some 90+ percent and never seem to complete (or time out) even
if the data transferred is already complete.

This is why I prefer bytestream mode (tenex/type L 8) in those ftp cases.
