I was interested in the recent complaints about Cognos and it's pricing.
Today I found out they are not the only money grabbers.
About 5 years ago we added voice mail to our already existing telephone
switch it was $$$.
Now in our y2k'ing we find out that the telephone switch (about 10 years
old) is y2k ok but the voice mail box is not.
Now we need to upgrade the software on the voice mail part (not too
expensive). But when we do this we then have to upgrade the software on the
telephone switch.
The end result about $100,000.
The best part yet, some of the hardware in the switch we use for data
communications may not work on the new software and better yet there is no
new hardware as the product line has been dropped.
So anybody else checked their telephone switch yet!.
