MPEX can be used to identify those sets that meet your expansion criteria,
but MPEX itself cannot perform the capacity change. Both <plug>
DBGeneral </plug> and Adager provide MPEX command files that work in
conjunction with MPEX and perform the capacity changes on the datasets
identified by MPEX which meet your criteria. It would be possible to take
this command file and modify it to also expand the capacity of your
external KSAM index files.

It may be possible for you to convert your application from using external
KSAM files to utilize the power of IMAGE b-tree indexes. In doing so, the
synchronization and integrity of the indexes is under the IMAGE umbrella
and protected by XM. The index files would also be managed by the database
tool, assuming that the version of the database tool you have supports
IMAGE b-trees.

<plug> If you utilize DBGeneral for your dataset capacity mgmt, it also
provides an automated capacity management feature which will either
increase or decrease dataset capacities using user criteria which can apply
to all sets in a base or separate criteria that applies to individual
sets. Let us know if you would like assistance in taking advantage of this
feature.
</plug>
