If you are using a program to prompt, you will need to turn off echo
using the intrinsic FCONTROL.  If your program is a VIEW program see the
'S'ecurity feature for fields enhancements in FORMSPEC.  In MPE/iX you
will need to SET ECHO=OFF and then INPUT password.  I have not tryed the
last.  But it should work.  The first two my firm uses.
