Gehan,
try
tar.hpbin.sys "-xovpf ./JDK122.web60.tar"
in the group where the tar file resides.
Otherwise a file JDK122 in group WEB60 of an account TAR is expected by
pure MPE ...
In the shell, your path seems not to point to HPBIN.SYS - la and tar must
be found! Did you set the Posix-UDC for your logon ?
Best regards,
Andreas Schmidt

Please respond
to "Gehan G."
I'm trying to install java on my HP, I downloaded the tar and
uploaded it via wrq transfer binary option.
Now when I try to run: tar -xovpf JDK122.web60.tar
I get...
SYS:tar -xovpf JDK122.web60.tar
^
Expected a comma or a semicolon. (CIERR 10125)
Implied run command failed due to parser error. (CIERR 9057)
I think the problem might be that i'm missing a lot of the
system files. Or maybe i'm trying to run them wrong.. for
instance...
When I chgroup hpbin and do a "ls -al" I get a directory
listing.
If I try to invoke a shell I get..
SYS:sh
$ ls
ls: not found
$ tar
tar: not found
$ exit
SYS:tar
Must specify one of 'c', 'r', 't', 'u', or 'x'
Usage: tar -[crtux][lpmovwzU[0-7[lmh]]] [-b blocks]
[-f tarfile] [-V volpattern] [file ...]
SYS:ls
(I get long list)
I see in the installing java help file most of these commands
are typed in from a shell prompt, not a colon prompt. How do I
get to a shell prompt where I can run from?
I'm a little confused, any help would be much appricated,
Thanks,
Gehan G.
