Thanks for this hint ... that's the way how to access EXTRACT files via
Samba/iX.
Having PerfView/NT in place on a NT workstation/server you have two choices
to access the extracted files (only extracted files can be used to analyse
non-NT systens by the NT version ... that's the same for PerfView/UX for
non-UX systems):
1. transfer the extracted file from HP3000 to NT via FTP.
pro's: * fast access,
con's: * a lot of discspace is needed on NT,
* extract is neccessary (=> CPU time on HP3K),
* file transfer is needed.
2. TOBYTE the extracted file and access it via Samba/iX.
pro's: * uses discspace on HP3K,
* real client-server situation ;-),
* no file transfer needed.
con's: * extract is neccessary,
* 2nd file is (temporarily) needed,
* sloooow (depends on the N/W).
If somebody is interested in, I have now two jobs in place, called EXTRNT
and EXTRSMB, I can share with you (working with MAESTRO Parms, but it's
easy to change this to STREAMX inputs or pure MPE.
