I don't have an answer to Terry's situation... but I wanted to let you know
that as of release 5.0 a user needs to have LOCK access plus either READ or
EXECUTE access to be able to open a UDC file at logon or setcatalog time.
Back to Terry's problem: logon as one of the users that will be using one
of the UDC and do a LISTF <udcfilename>,4. Do you have (R or X) and L
access?
