No, just used LZW as a workaround.

Everone.
Over the Easter weekend the organisation I have either worked for directly or contracted to since 1997 finally migrated off of the HP3000 ending an assocation of the original Microwarehouse business and its various incarnations of more than 30 years between the HP3000 and the SGA / MACS software.

The servers just retired were in germany where I lived for 6 years but I have been back in the UK these last 18 months. The 3K situation is dormant in Europe and virtually non-existent here in the UK so I guess it's time to cast the net in directions new.

Thanks to all the group who have assisted over the years and i wish you all nice lives going forward.

Regards
Paul E

Are you using LZW because you're not using Orbit's compression, or just because you want them in one file?

As said before, I have not had problems with regular FTP (HP3000 to HP3000) on regular Orbit disc files.

I had some teething issues, but got over them.

I use a freeware item called LZW to zip up the Orbit files. The LZW file created is then FTP'ed to the target where LZW then unzipes the Orbit files from where they can be restored.

Not as elegant as using FTP directly (was never able to achieve this even wit assistance from orbit support) or the DSCOPY solution previously reported.
