I looked in my Nov'97 HP9000 Config Guide and would say the P405, LP500 and
LPQ500 are the low-end impact printers with bar code support. Guide does not
spell out the type of bar codes though. Ask your HP Rep or Channel Partner to
look on the data sheets.
The P405 (600cps draft, 150cps letter) is stated as being PCL3 compliant and
with HP2934 and HP2235 emulation.
The LP(Q)500 is 500lpm in draft mode.
