Sorry, Denys:  I must respectfully but completely disagree:
It would be a fairly rational perspective to consider both USER
and HP variables as MPE variables.  Plus there is already the
established and familiar routine of doing:
SHOWVAR HP@
to get all variables that start with "HP".  If you do
SHOWVAR MPE@
you don't find any matches....   therefore:

I stand by my previous "no contest" statement.
