The main problem is that no software protection scheme will work if someone
decides to crack it. If the OS can load it to run, then it can be cracked.

This is the reason you see most companies using a simple registration key.
Like any lock, it keeps honest people honest but cannot stop a professional
thief. Even Microsoft's activation scheme was quickly cracked.

I would try concentrating on providing extra value to registered customers
in a way that made illegal copies seem less attractive. How you do this
depends alot on what the software is you are trying to sell.

Sorry, I know that is not very helpful, but many minds have studied this
problem without much success that I have seen.
