I do not know why this would affect batch jobs, however, I recall from other
postings in the past that you want to avoid auto-sensing, especially on your
100 base-t network. Since you say you changed some network equipment, I
would verify that the switch port your HP 3000 is connected to is not doing
auto-sensing.

Also, do you have any Glance (or SOS, etc.) statistics on system resources
during this slow period?
