fwiw, i believe i brought this up with hp some time ago (i can't remember if i
was wearing my style-ish sig sysman hat or not....).  i asked for a ci function
that would post a reply to the console.  it seemed like a really handy thing.  i
guess other folks think so too :-)                  - d
