This isn't exactly true. Yes, you can reboot via dial-in if you are using
remote console support, but that is essentially hooking your remote console
port (LDEV 21) in parallel with LDEV 20. Just using the CONSOLE command to
take the console won't work because you can't do a cntl-A nor a cntl-B. If
the console port is hung, rather than the terminal, you may be faced with an
ungraceful shutdown.

Since you can take the console, I would try clearing the main console with
:ABORTJOB and :ABORTIO, and even cutting the power to the console OFF and ON
again, before rebooting. That has sometimes cleared up "hung console"
problems
for me. But if necessary, then yes, you can reboot from another console.
In
fact, I've rebooted systems from home over a dial-up line. The only problem
is
that once the system starts coming back up, it will revert to the original
console, so you want to make certain you have a working terminal on that
port
when you reboot.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Locked Console
Hello List,
We have a locked console on our 3000 979. I issued the commands to unlock,
CTRL - S, then CTRL - Q with no results.
It is not affecting the users and I can take the console.
Has anyone rebooted the 3000 from another console? Is it possible?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
