Hi Denys and Art (2) :)
I have to agree with Denys on this one... ZoneAlarm is a great little
application based firewall... but it just didn't do the job when it came to
"broadband" and business needs... and no matter how well I tuned the little
bugger... still popped up when I didn't want it to...

I use BlackIce on the laptop as a extra layer and to protect the laptop
since I plug it into lots of networks... both military and civilian...

But! I put in a NetScreen firewall (physical device) and it is so much
better.. Web interface... true logs and fully configurable... And... the
blackice doesn't go off when the laptop is behind the netscreen .... but
when not... I get lots of hits... even in safe networks.....

Defense in Depth is the concept to live by... :) and yep... it still
won't save you from the user clicking on the attachment! hehe

A fair question. I have had too many places where the service runs away
with the machine. And it keeps popping up at the most inopportune
moments.

I find that in a corporate environment, a good router like a Watchguard
or some such does a tremendous job.

Oh, and just to throw fuel on the fire; I despise Zone Alarm. :-)
