Since I'm one of the guilty using Outlook 2000 - and some of you do see my
posts as attachments...

... is this an attachment or did it come through as Text?

I ask this for a reason:

1. Some people see text (My installation of Outlook 2000 is configured to
default to Plain Text unless in reply to RTF), some see an attachment.

2. It's not mailer-specific either - my posts seem to come through into
Outlook Express as a Windows Character Set attachment (even though
configured as ISO Character Set) - some see the ISO Character Set.

So - I'm going to experiment a little. Those who want to assist, great.
Those who don't, that's fine too. Here's what we're gonna do:

- This is a Usenet Posting direct to the gateway NNTP server. This should
come through as plain text, not as an attachment. I would need this
confirmed by E-Mail recipients only though.

- I'll also change my outgoing SMTP server and see if that makes a
difference. If so -- then we may have our culprit. Again, I'll need some
confirmation.

Let's go for this post first though -- What I need to see is (1) Text or
Attachment? (2) Mail Software and version you are using and (3) if known -
what SMTP/POP3 server you are using (some do rewrite on incoming, like MS
Exchange).

Private replies with this subject heading would be great, to keep the
bandwidth down on the list. The remainder of the tests will be a Reply To
All.

TIA,
Joe
