You are probably being burned by the fact that File number ZERO is now a legal
file number.  Initialize your file numbers to -1 (I think) and the FFILEINFO
should then report the proper status of not opened.  Note file number 0
was needed for the POSIX people I believe.  It is STDIN I think.
