Excellent ! I strongly support the idea !

I would appreciate to get the user-defined variables. It would provide
great enhancements to script files I use here for system admin purposes.

I would like to get these as well, mainly for error-tracking/handling
purposes, i.e. what I would use would be HPCIERR, CIERR and stuff like
that.

Do the HPSTDIN_@ and HPVT_@ variables fall into that category ? If yes, and
 if possible, I
would like to get at least HPSTDIN_ACCESS_TYPE, HPSTDIN_TRANSPORT_TYPE,
HPSTDIN_NETWORK_NODE,
HPSTDIN_NETWORK_ADDR, HPVT_CLIENT_VENDOR, HPVT_CLIENT_OPSYS and
HPVT_CLIENT_TCP_PORT. I am
already planning some enhancements to my pet script files that could use
these variables. Or
does some nice fellow here think of some other way to gather that
information from some other
source and feed it into CI script files ?

I do not have much use of these variables. So if they can't be done,, I'm
comfortable with this.

Yes, just one more : keep on enhancing MPE like this, and maybe we can all
take it well into
next millenium, and well outside our current installed base (my pet bottom
line !!!)

Was just my $.02, or Euro0.02.

Christian "Should retire in 2024 and is willing to do MPE till then"

Hi all,

I was looking into enhancing SHOWVAR to accept a JOB= parameter that
would show variables for another job or session if you had SM capability.

I discovered that it is pretty easy to get the user-defined variables for
another job/session. It is also pretty easy to get the predefined
variables whose values reside in the variable table for another
job/session. These include HPPROMPT, HPPATH, CIERROR, JCW, etc. These are
predefined vars that you can modify.

It is difficult to get predefined variables of another job/session that
are implemented as active functions. These are vars that you cannot
modify,
like: HPACCOUNT, HPUSER, HPJOBNUM, HPUSERCAPF, HPYYYY, HPSTREAMEDBY,
HPPIN, etc.

It is also difficult to get predefined variables of another job/session
that are local to the CI. These vars can be modified but are not stored in
the job wide variable table. They include: HPCMDTRACE, HPREDOSIZE,
HPMSGFENCE and a few more.

Any thoughts??

regards,
Jeff Vance, CSY
