OFFICE MEMO Beware of PURGELINK command Date: 1/9/96
I just discovered a bug in the PURGELINK command. The command will not =
only purge link files, but it will also purge a local file with the =
issued file name.
I discovered the bug with MPEX issuing a PURGELINK @.groupname, hoping to =
purge all symbolic links and maintain a set of local files. To my =
surprise, when I did a LISTF on the group, no files existed. To insure it =
was MPE and not MPEX, I created a local file and issued a PURGELINK =
command on the file. The file was deleted.
Called the RC and after the RC engineer discussed the events with the =
lab, an SR was opened. The RC # is 5003298265. The lab told us the =
PURGELINK command was not insuring the file was a link file prior to =
purging it.
