I've read the other replies, but wondered - if you are really forced to
implement this sort of hand-shaking by the credit card company and the
HP3000 doesn't support it - then you might have to consider making your
hp3000 talk to the processing centre via some middleware program (of
your own making) sitting on some windows server in your estate.

Essentially you can hide your hp3000 behind this middleware program /
server and let it deal with the relevant protocols.

However, it sounds like you've already got the HP3000 talking real time
to their systems, so this would be a major step backwards.

Enjoy your battle with the bank !

Subject: [HP3000-L] MPE Know What 4-Way Handshaking Is

Good afternoon from South Texas -

Quick question - does MPE know anything about 4-way handshaking(8.11Ieee
- I think)? We are trying to talk to a credit-card bank processing
center in real-time and they seem to think we need to provide the
"4-way" to shutdown the background job 'gracefully'....I am blue in the
face explaining...NOPE don't need to from my end.

Thought I would ask before, I kick in the "HURT" factor on the
unsuspecting young man who can't spell HP.

Thanks
John
