If you're on 5.0, there is a patch, MPEHXD7 that addresses this issue.  It has
been superseded by MPEHXP7, which is available either separately or as part of
the C.50.04 Powerpatch.  I think that Larry (Spoolers-R-Us) Byler explained the
issues with having a very large number of linked output spoolfiles in a post
here a while ago; basically you'll take a performance hit on some spooler
commands and on START RECOVERY if the number of spoolfiles is extremely large.
These considerations are probably what prompted the choice of 10000 (more or
less) as the limit for linked output spoolfiles.  Considering that the prior
limit (before NMS) was about 600-800, it must have seemed like enough at the
time.
 
There are two SRs that you might look for if you have HPSL: 5003258970 and
5003009324.  Otherwise (or actually, in any case), you can place a response
center call and get the patch/powerpatch and more info on this.
