I would suggest the old tried and true method of setting up the disc as a private volume, then copy random data to the disc until
it is full, then erasing it. Repeat this cycle twice more. This will thoroughly erase everything, however a FORMATVOL on top of
it would not hurt.

Are you sure you don't want to take a shorter route and simply use a sledge hammer, then toss it overboard say 5 miles
offshore? <g>
