In the late 70s or early 80s, something like this was the cover story in
Popular Science Magazine - although I seem to recall that they were called
"tornado towers" and much larger than what was shown here. They also had
doors that opened on different sides of the cylinder to aid the drafting. I
guess it's true, there's nothing new under the sun... ;-)
