: Weakening Unix, sez an analyst

Hello Friends:

Thought this list might make some use of this information the next time its
members have to defend the HP 3000 against Unix systems strictly on the
basis of what's popular:

Reuters Corporate World News reported today that Merrill Lynch analyst
George Elling said he lowered his earnings per share estimates for
Hewlett-Packard stock because of a weakening in some of the company's
business areas.
>> IMHO I don't think that this changes things much. Just an indication that ALL
computer sales may be softening a bit as they go through their cycle. The
real question in my mind is whether UNIX has really peaked (to be
replaced by NT?) or what??
