The basic issue with most gateways is that they re-map definitions into
their view of the world. In non-relational systems such as RMS, KSAM,
TurboImage etc the apps created various datatypes and structures which
the RDBMS cannot manage. The ODBC vendors who are trying to provide
a direct solution for some of these systems are able to manage most
if not all of the common types/structures. You probably should have
a look at MB Foster's ODBC solution.
