Hello Karl,

Nothing. When you create a new account via :newacct you create
an account entry, a user (AM) entry and the PUB group entry on
the volume set specified (default=mpexl_system_volume_set).

I don't know about SAMBA's need here. FWIW, the syntax of the
shell's ln -s (to create a link) is the opposite of the CI's
:newlink command. The CI's :newlink command creates a link pointing
to something. That "something" does not need to exist.

To create a link named "/etc/local/samba" the directories "/etc"
and "/etc/local" must already exist.
