I am making progress, I assure you. :)

Having almost nailed this beast, I now have reservations about the lack of
performance in getting data from the HPe3000 using this method.

Of course, I may have set an option incorrectly or not set some that I should
have.

If I perform a file xfer using Reflection v8 over NS/VT, the xfer process
completes in 10 seconds, but under samba with a drive letter mapped to the HP,
it takes 9mins 6secs!!!.

Does anyone have any views on the kind of throughput I should be aiming for,
or any options that I need to check out that may improve the response I am
getting.

We are running Samba as supplied with MPE/IX 6.5 pp1 on a 979-200 with 1gb mem
and a 216gb 12h array.
