Thus it was written in the epistle of Steve Dirickson b894 WestWin,
> In addition, the comment about the lack of ISO-style calendars implies

> have calendars starting on Sunday (we "Talk the talk") I submit that, in
> fact, 95+% of America does things as Wayne describes, and treats Monday
> as the start of a new week (we don't "Walk the walk"). Consider:
> 1) How many people get up on Sunday morning saying "Hey, the start of
> another week!"?
> 2) On Thursday, how many people talk about something happening Sunday as
> going on "next week"?

Ok, now I'm curious. What do people really answer for the above? I mean,
I am one who definitely and unquestionably considers Sunday to be the first day
of the week, and if someone said to me

> "Hey, I'll give you a call early next
> week; say five Sunday afternoon"

I would think nothing of it. I had always assumed that those who counted
Monday as the start of the week counted Saturday and Sunday as my little
pocket calendar does, as one day or basically non-entities. Monday is
undoubtedly the start of the *work* week, but the start of the week as a whole?

However, as a Seventh-day Adventist, I am very aware that what is typical for
me is not necessarily typical for others. I am likely part of the above-
mentioned 5-%. If you don't mind, though, I'd like to know if you would:
  1) Wake up Sunday morning thinking of the day as the start of the new week.
  2) Talk (on Thursday :-) of a Sunday event as going on "next week".
  3) Be surprised at the above "I'll give you a call".

The answers need not be the same for all three of the above. Feel free to send
me the responses in private email, though I'll watch for them on the list, too,
and if anyone is interested in the results, I'll be glad to compile and
report.

I hope that posterity will judge me kindly, not only as to the things which
I have explained, but also to those which I have intentionally omitted so as
to leave to others the pleasure of discovery.
