Ok...let's see what's on that tape!

Try:

   :file t; dev=9; rec=8192, 1, u, binary
   :fcopy from=*t;to=;char;files=4;subset=(0,3)

Here's the first record I get from an NMSTORE tape:

   *T RECORD 0 (%0, #0)

00000: STORE/RESTORE-HP/3000.MPEXL  .........4..... 0........C4..@.............
00044: .......|.............TSPRODID. C.50.12.07/27/950000.


BTW, do you have an email address without a "/" in it?  My mailer can't
seem to handle that, so I can't email you.
