I haven't used that modem, but I can pretty much guarantee the cable that
came with it won't work.  First of all, you said it has a DB25 female
connector, but the connectors on the DTC are female, so you would need a
gender changer.  The second problem is that DTC ports are wired as DCE
ports, not DTE, which means that pins 2 and 3 are reversed with respect to
the cable's expected pin assignments.

Looking to replace some old AT&T modems hanging off a DTC72MX db25 modem
ports. Have in my hand a 56k external modem (AOpen Component Solution is the
make). Modem has a serial 9 pin female port and modem cable (9 pin male to
db 25 female) which will connect to the DTC72 modem ports. Has anyone used
this modem before? Modem comes with a CD-Rom with software for NT.
