Upon closer review, it seems that I erred.  I fumbled on the directories on
my PC.  My ALLBASE directory in which I expanded the GUPTA API which came in
HPPCAPI.PUB.SYS is the one which contains the SQLAPIW files which when
expanded will have the proper extensions.  In directory FTW3\ALLBASE is where
I keep my Forest&Trees stuff, my mistake.
 
Therefore, go ahead and expand the HPPCAPI and go for the gusto (gupta?).
 However, you may want to go ODBC, it works quite well and seems to be in
greater use than GUPTA.
