<< For those dissatisfied with COGNOS, You should try HP Transact.
 Advantages are:

 1. It will (probably) be around as long as the 3000.
 2. Easy to learn.
 3. Supports Image, VPlus and the 3000 dictionary.
 4. Reasonably priced.
 5. Supported by HP.
 6. Not a machine hog, any more than Cobol is.

And, I might add, can do things Cognos can't. I've written Transact programs
to handle the stuff they couldn't do in Powerhouse, at Powerhouse shops,
even when they had hired consultants from Cognos.

P.S. Transact is a WHOLE lot cheaper, and much easier on the HP3000
resources. If you're going to rewrite, may as well do it right.
