Dave,

Have run systems attached to EMC Symmetix before and have a question.
Are you also running Mirror/iX? If not, why and how are you doing a split?
In the EMC array, are all of the volumes configured as mirrored or do you
have some that are in a RAID-5 configuration?

Also, is this procedure something you have just started doing?

Subject: [HP3000-L] EMC Volumes disappear

To All:

I have an ongoing problem with a Symmetix and K-Class (running 6.0) and
volumes disappearing after I close and split the BCVs from them.

I have upgraded the firmware on the controllers to 3944 (I know, I know,
but we initially had no incidents with this version as compared to 3728).

The events are:

VSCLOSE

Split

Volumes start automatically mounting (No VSOPEN issued). When complete,
there are volumes missing from the DSTAT list and of course require a
reboot in order to get mounted.

Any ideas?

Dave
