When hung over in Austin quite a few months ago, I was planted on the couch
one morning watching public access TV and caught the better half of a
lecture by Singh regarding the contents of his Code Book. While I'm still
pushing my way through the Heinlein books I've never read, and have quite a
list of other books eager to attack my brain, this definitely looked like an
interesting and informative shot at the history of cryptography. Without
reading it I'd definitely recommend it.

Related, but somewhat off-topic, I just finished reading a
book by Simon
Singh called "The Code Book". It is a nice history of
cryptography and
cryptoanalysis. It was a quick read that covers everything
from Greek &
Roman Ciphers to RSA and PGP. I enjoyed it and if you are
slightly
interested in the subject, I think you will too.
